for crap sake...

Gas in Hannibal last night: $2.77. Filled the van while I was there since it was so "cheap". Got home and the station down the street at 11:30 last night was $2.99. Same station down the street this morning as Shawna drove by: $3.26. Must have been a wicked couple of hours. Cryin' out loud...

Last I heard, someone gets killed in an automobile accident every ten seconds. Do you think that's why gas is sooooo stinking high?

Thanks Dane. People are indeed dying all over the place, be it from natural disasters, accidents or the ever popular cancer thing. I on the other hand, have a great house, a pool that I'm presently preparing to enjoy and a relatively smooth sail going on in my life currently; all illusions and noted. Perspective and I are good buddies. However. Gas prices still stink.

I appreciate the perspective that the recent events have brought to our lives. God is good indeed. You will never hear me say otherwise.

I wonder how many people around us have also experienced life-altering events that have brought them perspective.
Just as a silly example(and I agree this pales in comparison to many other's lives): having a grandmother (who was like a mom to me) dead from diabetes & heart disease, a father dead from lung cancer, a step father dead from stomach cancer, a sister 8 years younger than myself who has had crippling rheumatoid arthritis for 10 years, I will never be able to snuggle with the child I almost had or watch them grow up and experience life and the Lord on their own or, for that matter, have any other children and I still think the gas prices stink!

My heart goes out to all the victims of hurricane Katrina-many of us have contributed (and plan to do more in the future) to try to put a dent in the immediate needs so many are experiencing. I also know that, personally, the times I have grown the most have been the most difficult times in my life and I don't recall an inkling of frustration with someone who was exasperated with incredulous and unsubstantiated price increases.
Living in a fallen world sucks but Heaven is on the way!
God is good indeed ;)
(okay, I'm off my soap box now...)

Pam, you are a walking testimony of a life lived in joy regardless of circumstance. No wonder you're always the ears and heart so many people run to when their world is caving in around them. From your loss God has borne compassion and empathy evident in the way you care about people. Thankful you chose joy.
